The quick answer is that it depends on your level of experience with agile and where you want to take your career. Here is what we suggest: if you are new to agile, then the Disciplined Agile Scrum Master (DASM) is where you want to start. If you have some experience with agile and want to round out your knowledge of what agile and lean are really all about, but likely aren’t going to focus your career on agile right now, then the PMI Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP) is likely for you. If you’ve been doing agile for a few years and want to learn more about Disciplined Agile (DA), or if your team is struggling with issues that agile frameworks like Scrum don’t address, then Disciplined Agile Senior Scrum Master (DASSM) is where you should start. You’ve been coaching in agile for a few years, and would like to coach in Disciplined Agile (DA) or would like to coach non-software teams, then first earn the Disciplined Agile Senior Scrum Master (DASSM) to learn about DA and then take Disciplined Agile Coach (DAC) to learn the key coaching skills to go to the next level. You’re experienced in agile, are a member of an agile transformation team within your organization, and want to learn how to really turn your organization into an agile enterprise: first earn the Disciplined Agile Senior Scrum Master (DASSM) to learn about DA and then take Disciplined Agile Value Stream Consultant (DAVSC) to learn how to apply DA to transform your organization. If you are a Project Manager and considering the Project Manager Professional (PMP) Certification, The Project Management Professional (PMP) is the world’s leading project management certification. The course now includes predictive, agile and hybrid approaches. The PMP proves project leadership experience and expertise in any way of working. It supercharges careers for project leaders across industries and helps organizations find the people they need to work smarter and perform better.
The DASM and DASSM exams are 50 questions long with a duration of 90 minutes. The 90 minutes does not include a tutorial that takes 10-15 minutes to go through. The DAC exam is 60 questions split between standalone questions and questions related to the case study and is 2 hours in length. The DAVSC exam is 40 questions split between standalone questions and questions related to the case study and is 90 minutes in length. The PMP exam consists of 180 questions and is 230 minutes in length. There is an additional cost to the PMP exam above the cost of the workshop. There are perquisites and steps to apply for the exam. The exam is a non-proctored exam with Pearson Vue. PMI does not release exam results.
